Naruto has been somewhat of an anime and manga phenomenon in Japan for quite a while now, but the series has only recently started to gain popularity stateside since its debut on Cartoon Network. It only makes sense then that the video games based on the Naruto license make the jump across the Pacific as well. At a recent Nintendo press event, we had a chance to play Naruto: Ninja Council on the Game Boy Advance, and the game seems to do a fairly good job of capturing the spirit of the license

Introduction Some years ago, people watched Dragon Ball, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cutey Honey and so on… These days, young people still like to watch anime, but they are more into new series, Naruto  Konoha Senki being one of them. Of course a game would be released, but after the disappointement that the last game caused, would fans really want this game?

Naruto RPG: Uketsugareshi Hi no Ishi is a Role-Playing game, developed by TOSE and published by Tomy Corporation, which was released in Japan in 2004. Yes, the claim is right. Having played all of the GBA Naruto games, I have to say that this one takes the cake by far.

To team with the release of the Naruto: Clash of Ninja series on GameCube, publisher D3 has been simultaneously sending out handheld adventures to go with the franchise’s console counterpart. When the first Clash of Ninja game hit stores, Naruto: Ninja Council was released for GBA.

Naruto Saikyou Ninja Daikesshu 3 is an adventure game, developed especially for the Nintendo DS by Aspect, and published by Tomy across a wide variety of regions and countries. The title, as its name implies, is the fourth installment in the Saikyou Ninja Daikesshu series, as it is known in Japan, and the fourth in the Ninja Council franchise, as it is known in North America and Europe.

Since the Naruto series has made its way from Japan to the United States (and beyond), we’ve been seeing a mixed bag of titles along with it to satisfy gamers’ needs. On consoles, the Clash of Ninja series continues to excel, bringing iteration after iteration of a surprisingly impressive and deep cel-shaded fighter engine as version after version is localized for worldwide release. On the portable front, things aren’t quite as remarkable, as we’ve had two mediocre titles thus far on GBA with Naruto: Ninja Council , and Ninja Counci l 2

Tomy hits the mark again with their newest release for the Nintendo DS, Naruto RPG 2 Chidori vs. Rasengan . I think this is the first RPG released for the Nintendo DS, I’m not sure, but this is definitely one of the best RPG experiences I’ve had on any handheld.

Story Huge turnoff is the fact that the story is bloody random. Every fan of the game series wanted the third one so bad prior to the release was due to the fact that Naruto RPG 2 ended with the first season (and before what fans refer to as Naruto II).

Naruto: Saikyo Ninja Daikesshu 4 is the latest in the popular Naruto series for NDS. This latest version is expected to be styled as a 2D fighting game, similar to the popular Jump Superstars.  This is a Japanese import game
