NesterJ is part of the Nester family, a group of emulators based on the emulator NesterJ created by Darren Ranalli. As you might have guessed from the “J” in the name, this spin off is of Japanese origin. Fortunately it is in English though.

NESten is a very nice Nintendo NES emulator which supports a reasonble amount of memory mappers and sound.

Nestopia is one of the best Nintendo/Famicom emulators available, it’s an open source emulator and it gets updated frequently. The Windows port has been completely rewritten from scratch, which means it has been improved, also the emulation core has changed completely. It has a great game compatibility list and the supported controllers make this emulator a nice option for playing your favorite games

VirtuaNES is a relatively new NES emulator from Japanese origin.

FCEUX is a cross platform, NTSC and PAL Famicom/NES emulator that is an evolution of the original FCE Ultra emulator. Over time FCE Ultra had separated into many separate branches. The concept behind FCEUX is to merge elements from FCE Ultra, FCEU rerecording, FCEUXD, FCEUXDSP, and FCEU-mm into a single branch of FCEU.

DSemu is an emulator written by Imran Nazar, and will eventually emulate a Nintendo DS on many platforms. Currently, since very little information about the DS is on public release, this is a Gameboy Advance emulator for Windows

Dualis is a plugin-based DS emulator for x86/Win32 computers. It is written in x86 assembly and C++.

iDeaS is an Nintendo DS emulator. It’s compatibility rate is growing with each release while it already runs a few commercial games. Below is a video which demonstrates iDeaS v1.0.1.5 running Super Mario 64.
